About “Reflections of a Math Teacher”
When I started this blog, I was thinking of writing down my ideas about teaching. Armed with a few years of teaching and studying at the same time, I was thinking that I could shift and write from two different points of view. But it turned out that I was writing not only about education, but about life in general. Now that I stopped teaching for a while to concentrate on my studies, I now have more time to think about things.
This blog had an identity crisis at some point, trying to figure out what title I can use that somehow sums up the contents that I write here. I finally settled down to the current title, “Reflections of a Math Teacher”. Because that’s what I am and what I will continue to be. And because I love to ponder about things whenever my schedule permits. It helps to pause once in a while, and take a survey of what has happened to you so far. After that, you decide where you want to go next.
About the Image Header
I took that picture when we went to Bantayan Island last September 9, 2007. I deliberately woke up early to catch the sunrise. As you listen to the sound of the waves approaching the shore, it gives you a certain calmness that allows you to look at things more objectively. This is not something you get when you’ve been living in a city all your life. Moments like these are priceless.
